Despite being widely praised for its massive, diverse depiction of military operations across Bolivia, Wildlands has long been criticized on modern consoles for being firmly locked to a dated 30 FPS frame rate cap at sub-4K resolutions. Even when running via backward compatibility on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, the software has remained artificially throttled.

According to the leaked retail assets, the upcoming optimization update will finally unlock:

  • Native 4K Resolution Target: Delivering a massive clarity boost across the game’s extreme draw distances and dense jungle biomes.
  • Rock-Solid 60 FPS Performance: Eliminating the sluggish input delay that has plagued console players trying to run tactical stealth infiltrations.

New Content: The “Last Rites” Story Mission

Surprisingly, this current-gen push isn’t just a simple frame rate bump. The storefront graphic explicitly lists an unreleased, fully fledged story mission titled “Last Rites.”

While story details remain tightly under wraps, this marks the first time Ubisoft has developed active operational content for Wildlands since its post-launch roadmap officially wrapped up in 2019 to make way for Ghost Recon: Breakpoint.

The Storefront Confusion: Definitive Edition Complications

The leak directly coincides with a massive, somewhat confusing product rollout on digital storefronts. Ubisoft quietly shadow-dropped a Ghost Recon: Wildlands Definitive Edition priced at a premium $99.99.
