Edward Kenway’s return to the high seas is turning out to be a massive commercial lifeline for Ubisoft. In its Q1 fiscal report, the publisher confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has crossed 3.5 million copies sold across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC—officially smashing the company’s full-year sales projections in just 14 days.

Launching on July 9, 2026, the ground-up remake racked up 2 million sales in its opening weekend before climbing past 3 million within a week. Sitting at an 84 on Metacritic and OpenCritic, Resynced stands as the highest-rated Assassin’s Creed title since the original 2013 release.

Record-Breaking PC Launch & Fast Profitability

  • Steam Record: The remake set a brand-new franchise record on PC, hitting a peak concurrent player count of 105,000 on Steam—the highest ever recorded for an Assassin’s Creed title on the platform.
  • Full Cost Recoup Expected: Despite launching at a lower budget price point of $59.99 / £49.99 (compared to the $70 standard for mainline entries), Ubisoft CFO Frederick Duguet stated during the investor call that development costs are expected to be fully recouped within the current financial quarter.
  • Yves Guillemot’s Take: Calling the launch an “encouraging proof point,” Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot praised the development teams and pointed to the performance as proof of the enduring appeal of classic Assassin’s Creed design.

“Two weeks in, the title has already exceeded the annual expectations we had… This launch illustrates the enduring appeal of the Assassin’s Creed brand, as well as the early benefits of our ongoing transformation and commitment to delivering very high-quality experiences.” — Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft CEO
