Co-developed by Arc System Works and PlayStation Studios (XDev) and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls is built from the ground up on Unreal Engine 5 to revitalize the competitive tag-team fighting genre.
The Dynamic 4v4 “Wall Break” System
Unlike traditional 3v3 tag fighters, Fighting Souls introduces a progressive 4v4 assist-and-tag structure:
- Earn Your Roster Mid-Match: Matches start in a constrained 1v1 state with a single assist character. Players unlock their 3rd and 4th team members in real-time by filling meters and executing cinematic Wall Breaks—a returning mechanic from Guilty Gear Strive that shifts the fight across multi-tiered Marvel arenas.
- 20-Character Launch Roster: Features core fan-favorites like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, and Wolverine alongside deeper cuts like Peni Parker and Danger.
- Dual Input Modes: To bridge the gap between casual arcade fans and hardcore tournament players, the game features both simplified button combos and traditional motion inputs seamlessly within the same match.
