A vibrant scene from the game Palworld featuring colorful creatures and characters amidst a lush environment with futuristic structures in the background.

After two and a half years of shattering early-access records and racking up tens of millions of players, Pocketpair has officially launched Palworld 1.0 on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5. While the milestone update includes a massive drop of brand-new endgame content, high-tier dungeons, and fresh Pals to capture, it’s the undocumented visual changes to the game’s original roster that have the community talking.

Sharp-eyed players immediately noticed that several veteran Pals have undergone significant cosmetic makeovers. Pocketpair subtly adjusted proportions, color palettes, and distinct facial features of creatures that previously drew heavy criticism for looking a little too much like specific Pokémon.

In a statement regarding the launch, the developer candidly admitted the aesthetic adjustments were intentional. The goal? To permanently distance the studio from the “Pokémon with guns” label and smooth over lingering design controversies as the game transitions into a long-term live-service model. Moving forward, Pocketpair wants the focus strictly on its survival mechanics rather than legal speculation.
