Following a disappointing and highly criticized launch of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader on the Nintendo Switch 2, developer Owlcat Games is taking drastic measures to win back the community’s trust. The studio rolled out a massive day-one corrective update targeting severe framerate drops, system crashes, and visual texture bugs that plagued the port at launch. Recognizing that early adopters felt shortchanged by the technical state of the game, Owlcat dropped a bombshell announcement as an official apology.
The studio confirmed that all current and upcoming paid story DLC will be given to Switch 2 owners completely free of charge. This is a massive gesture of goodwill, especially considering that Rogue Trader has otherwise been a certified commercial triumph, recently crossing the major milestone of two million copies sold worldwide across PC and other consoles. By taking the financial hit on the Switch 2’s add-on content, Owlcat is aggressively moving to protect its long-term reputation and stabilize its player base on Nintendo’s new hardware.
