Retro collectors and Bomberman enthusiasts, rejoice! Konami has announced that the legendary 1995 Super Famicom puzzle game Super Bomberman: Panic Bomber W is finally getting its very first official Western release. The competitive falling-block puzzle game will be added as a completely free update on August 20 to the Super Bomberman Collection, which is currently available on Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.

Originally exclusive to Japan, Panic Bomber W shifts the classic explosive action into a frantic puzzle format. Players drop different-colored character blocks with the goal of aligning them to trigger massive chain reactions, filling up a meter to unleash devastating “Big Bombs” onto their opponent’s board. While it won’t support the collection’s modern Boss Rush mode, the update is a massive win for game preservation, bringing a historically difficult-to-find 16-bit spin-off to modern displays with local multiplayer GameShare support on the Switch 2.
