In what is easily the biggest platform-exclusivity shakeup of the decade, Microsoft’s Halo: Campaign Evolved is officially locked in for a simultaneous day-one release on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5 on July 28, 2026.
Developed by Halo Studios (formerly 341 Industries), this is a ground-up remake of the 2001 classic built entirely in Unreal Engine 5. The game completely ditches the aging, high-maintenance Slipspace Engine in favor of UE5’s Nanite and Lumen technology to render breathtaking, highly realistic environments—from the gloomy, swampy depths of 343 Guilty Spark to the shimmering, sun-drenched beaches of The Silent Cartographer.
The Campaign: The release features a fully rebuilt 13-mission campaign with enhanced cinematics, freshly recorded dialogue from the original cast, and a remastered orchestral soundtrack.
The Prequel: To expand the lore, Halo Studios has built three brand-new prequel missions where players will fight alongside Sergeant Avery Johnson to witness the desperate events immediately preceding the crash-landing on Alpha Halo.
Co-Op Details: The game will support 2-player split-screen on consoles, up to 4-player online co-op across all platforms with seamless cross-play, and fully shared progression.
