Square Enix is leaning hard into nostalgia to celebrate exactly a quarter-century since Final Fantasy X revolutionized the RPG landscape on the PS2 back in July 2001.
To mark the milestone, series veteran Tetsuya Nomura has illustrated a brand-new, official commemorative logo featuring Tidus and Yuna. Alongside a newly dropped emotional retrospective movie tracking the legacy of Spira, Square Enix formally announced that Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is officially targeting Nintendo’s next-generation hardware.
The Technical Leap: Unlike previous ports on the original Switch, which struggled with compression artifacts and locked 30 FPS caps, the Switch 2 edition is being built to fully leverage the new hardware’s modern architecture. Internal data shows the remaster aiming for a rock-solid native 1080p at 60 FPS in handheld mode, alongside heavily upgraded texture filtering, improved asset stream distances, and completely uncompressed cinematic audio.
